I’m trying to setup my new iPad Mini with the Turn Touch. However, it won’t connect to my Hue bridge. I’ve done the “clean up” but that didn’t help. I’ve pressed the button on the bridge but that does nothing. I’ve installed the official Hue app but that also didn’t affect anything. What am I missing?
I tried deleting the app and reinstalling. Didn’t help. I checked my old iPhone 5c running iOS 10.3.3 and Turn Touch version 2.0.1 b29. It finds the Hue bridge immediately. No issues.
I went out and purchased this new iPad specifically because I thought it would make my experience better. Its running the latest version of iOS and Turn Touch, but I can’t really get anything to work so far.
Hi, this sounds frustrating. So the Hue app looks for a bridge but never finds one? I tried it on my iPhone and iPad mini and both were able to find the Hue bridge. So I’m. Not sure what’s different about your network. I’m assuming the Hue bridge is just plugged into your wifi router. And if it works on an old iPhone, then there shouldn’t be any differences with the iPad mini.
I’m tempted to rewrite the networking code in the Hue app to use a different style of connection, but it’s going to take some time to get scheduled. I’ll write it up now so it’ll happen eventually.
Until then do you have a Mac that can also be used? Also try force quitting the app and relaunching, as well as tapping the bridge button periodically in case it is connecting but the view isn’t visible for whatever reason. There’s quite a bit of custom drawing code and it’s possible the connection dialog is just not being shown on a differently sized device.
Thanks for the reply. I don’t have a Mac. I wouldn’t own an Apple product except for the fact that the Turn Touch requires it. Force quitting the app didn’t fix the issue either. Spamming the button on the Hue Bridge doesn’t change anything. Maybe I’ll just return the iPad and get my money back. I don’t really notice any big differences between the 2.0.1 version and the 2.2.1 version. Could you guide me to the changelog so I can figure out if there are any features I actually need?
